Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said Dec. 1 he supports a $2.5 billion project to construct a nuclear power plant in the country in an effort to make Belarus less dependent on energy imports.The plant, which would take 10 years to build, would have a generating capacity of 2,000 megawatts and is expected to reduce imports from Russia by 24 percent.
