Belarus 'Will Not Bow'

BRUSSELS -- Belarus is a reliable energy partner of the European Union and is interested in deepening its relationship with the bloc, but it will not bow to pressure on human rights, its foreign minister said.

Belarussian Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov dismissed a plan announced last month by the EU executive to promote democracy in Belarus by targeting the population through the Internet, nongovernmental bodies and EU-backed regional media a "dubious exercise." (Reuters)
