The OAO Gomelsteklo glass producer presented a project to investors for the establishment of a sheet polished glass production facility at an investment forum in London in mid-November, according to a Nov. 18 Belta news agency report. An official from Belarus' Ministry of Construction and Architecture said that the new facility will produce 1.5-millimeter-3-mm-thick and 8-mm-19-mm-thick sheet polished glass and also tinted glass. The project will be subject to investment worth $64 million. The new plant will utilize the most modern foreign sheet glass production technologies, and will be one of the most up-to-date sheet glass production plants in the former Soviet Union, according to the report.

OAO Gomelsteklo produces more than 18 million square meters of sheet polished glass a year. It exports about 70 percent of its production to 25 countries. The company employs 3,600 people.
