MOSCOW, Nov 7 - Russian potash producer Uralkali said on Wednesday that its Belarussian export venture, which is the world's largest, was resuming sales and increasing prices.
Uralkali said in a statement that the Belarussian Potash Company had raised prices with immediate effect for sales in spot Asian markets to $400 per metric tonne from $360 previously.
BPC is also upping the price it charges for delivery after Jan. 1, 2008 in the Brazilian market to $400-$410 from $345-$355, depending on customer size.
"BPC has informed Uralkali that the price increases are driven by strong demand for potash in its major markets versus tight supply characteristics and also as a result of increased freight rates," Uralkali said.
