Velcom adds 169,000 new subs in 2Q
Belarus' second largest mobile operator by subscribers Mobile Digital Communications (Velcom) added a net 169,000 new subscribers in the second quarter of 2008 to raise its base to 3.369 million by the end of June. The operator, a fully consolidated unit of Telekom Austria Group, contributed revenues of EUR71.1 million (USD103.4 million) and EBITDA of EUR35 million in the April-June period, while operating income was EUR16.9 million. Velcom said its blended monthly ARPU climbed from EUR6.5 in 1Q08 to EUR6.9 in the second quarter and average MOU increased to 165.8 from 147.7 previously.
