According to the data released by Belarus National Statistical Committee, in January to July 2009 the country registered crude steel production down by 3.6%YoY, its finished steel product output down by 0.5% YoY steel pipe output down by 43.5% YoY. The respective figures in tonnes were 1.518 million, 1.433 million and 59,500.
During the period in question, Belarus' output of wire rod went down by 36.3% to 33,900 tonnes while its steel cord production decreased by 26.6% to 41,600 tonnes both compared with January to July 2008.
