Belarus will preside in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and will sign the agreement on Collective Rapid Response Forces (CRRF). The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, said upon completion of the negotiations with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, on Thursday, Kazakhstan Today agency reports citing Belarus news agency BELTA.
"We have not been presiding for half a year, therefore, we have decided to undertake presidency for the next term," A. Lukashenko said.
According to the press service of the Russian President, D. Medvedev and A. Lukashenko planned the schedule of further contacts, in particular, they agreed to take part in Zapad-2009 exercises, which will be held in the territory of Belarus on September 29, 2009. The President of Russia confirmed his readiness to take part in the session of EurAsEC International Council, which will take place in Minsk on November 27.
