Belarus says it will settle its gas debts to Russia within two weeks, after Russia started cutting supplies in a dispute over payments. The row threatens to disrupt onward deliveries to Europe. The Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, ordered the state-controlled gas monopoly, Gazprom, to reduce supplies by fifteen per cent. He said this would rise to 85 percent if Belarus didn't start paying the US$200 million that Russia says it's owed.
