Belarus refuses to hand over Bakiyev to Kyrgyzstan

Belarus has officially refused to extradite the former Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev to Kyrgyzstan, the RIA-Novosti news agency says citing an official spokesman for the Belorussian Prosecutor`s Office, Pyotr Kiselyov.

No further information has been provided.

Bakiev fled Bishkek on April 7 amid mass protests and has been living in Belarus at the invitation of the Belorussian leader Alexander Lukashenko since mid-April.
