Belarussian economy grows 8.7% in 4 mths

MINSK. May 11 (Interfax) - Belarussian GDP grew 8.7% year-on-year in January-April 2007, government sources told Interfax citing data from the Statistics and Analysis Ministry.

Industrial output grew 6.7% in the period and agricultural production rose 4%. Fixed-capital investment increased 24.5% in the four months.

Consumer prices rose 2.8% in January-April 2007 compared to 2.5% in the same period last year. Belarus posted deflation of 0.2% in April 2007 compared to a 0.9% price increase in April 2006.
