President Alexander Lukashenka says Belarus remains in CIS

ALMATY. Belarus will continue co-operation within the CIS, President Alexander Lukashenka said in his state-of-the-nation address to the parliament, Kazakhstan Today reports citing RIA "Novosti."

"We continue co-operation within the CIS. The CIS reserves and mechanisms have not been exhausted," - he said.

In his view the CIS must be reformed. "Any form of integration is useful, but the CIS needs reform to increase the efficiency of decision-making and responsibilities of separate states," - he said adding that transit and humanitarian co-operation was particularly attractive.
