MOSCOW, Apr 27 (PRIME-TASS) -- Russia plans to join the World Trade Organization (WTO) separately from its customs union partners Kazakhstan and Belarus, Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov said late Monday during a visit to the U.S., ITAR-TASS reported.
"Everyone will benefit if Russia becomes a WTO member before we create a common market with Kazakhstan and Belarus," he said.
Russian officials announced last year that the country would join the WTO simultaneously with Belarus and Kazakhstan.
Russia has been in negotiations to join the WTO since 1994.
