Venezuela and Belarus Strengthen Relations
Lukashenko proposes selling an anti-air defense system
Belarus' President Alexander Lukashenko offered Venezuela an anti-air defense system which would help the South American country "live peacefully" while underscoring interest in increasing "strategic" relations with Caracas. "We can do this in a very short period of time," Lukashenko said during a speech before the National Assembly. "And you can live peacefully without looking around you to check on what the rest of the world will do tomorrow, if they're going to help or conspire against you," he added. The offer from the president of Belarus came during a visit to Caracas which began on Mon. during which cooperation agreements were signed with Hugo Chavez. On Mon., Chavez reported that in early May, Venezuela will sell Belarus 80,000 barrels of oil.
