The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, arrived in Venezuela to discuss the progress of economic and trade agreements signed by both countries.
Lukashenko was welcomed by Venezuela's Vice President Elias Jaua in the airport of Maiquetia, near Caracas, where he was paid the honors of a head of state, before heading to Caracas to meet with President Hugo Chavez.
In September, Chavez offered raw materials to his chief ally in Europe in exchange for the transfer of industrial technology, Efe reported.
Recently, Chavez mentioned the possibility of increasing the volume of oil pumped by the joint venture Petrolera Belovenezolana in Venezuela from 15,000 barrels per day (bpd) to 20,000 bpd.
