Ukrainian ambassador to Belarus Igor Likhovy told journalists on March 24 in Minsk that delivering Venezuelan crude to Belarussian refineries via Ukraine would be most economical if it was pumped through the Odessa-Brody pipeline in the averse direction. The ambassador pointed out that transporting the oil by pipeline "would not require any special technical changes or funding - we only have to get guarantees that the crude will be delivered and switch the oil pipeline to the averse direction". He added that Ukraine's railways could also be used. "Ukraine has fairly well developed rail transport. It is possible that railroads could be used at some point in time", Likhovy said.
