Moscow has slammed Belarus over what it sees as anti-Russian rhetoric.
The Russian Foreign Ministry described as improper a statement by a Belarusian law enforcement official who accused Russian citizens of aggravating the crime situation in Belarus.
The ministry said that it would not let itself be dragged into dubious polemic on the issue but would keep a close watch on the destiny of two Russian citizens, Breus and Gaponov, who were arrested during an unauthorized rally in Minsk on December 19, 2010.
The rally was staged in protest against President Alexander Lukashenko's re-election for a fourth successive term.
