Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has reiterated Moscow's demand for the release of journalists and human rights activists detained in Belarus in the wake of the December 19 presidential elections.
"We sometimes have similar things happening here in Russia too and we are working to prevent such things happening again, but this does not mean we are going to shut our eyes to what is going on in neighboring Belarus," Lavrov said in a statement released in Moscow on Tuesday.
A number of opposition activists, including several presidential candidates, were detained during the post election riots in Minsk
