MINSK, Feb 27 (Reuters) - Belarus's trade deficit for goods soared to $443 million in January, more than double the figure of $204 million recorded in the same month in 2008, the national statistics committee said on Friday.
The committee, quoting preliminary data, said exports had plunged by 45.4 percent to $1.3 billion, while imports had fallen 32.8 percent to $1.76 billion.
Belarus has secured a loan of $2.46 billion loan from the International Monetary Fund to help it sustain the effects of the world financial crisis.
