European Union Warns Belarus on Separatist Regions

The European Union warned Belarus on Monday that its prospects of drawing closer to the bloc would be undermined if the country fell in line with Russia by recognizing the separatist Georgian regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. In April, the union will decide whether to extend a relaxation of political sanctions against Belarus.
