MINSK. Jan 10 (Interfax) - Belarus posted inflation of 2.4% in December 2007 compared to November and 12.1% for all of 2007 compared to 6.6% in 2006, the Statistics and Analysis Ministry said in a statement.
Consumer prices grew 2.2% in November 2007 following growth of 1.5% in October, 0.9% in September, 0.3% in August, 0.5% in July and 0.4% in June. Inflation totaled 0.4% in May after deflation of 0.2% in April. Consumer prices grew 0.4% in March, 0.8% in February and 1.8% in January.
According to the country's socioeconomic development forecast, the Belarussian government had expected to contain inflation at 6%-8% in 2007. Belarus had inflation of 8% in 2005, 14.4% in 2004 and 25.4% in 2003.
The government plans to lower inflation to 6%-8% in 2008.
