MINSK, January 9 (Itar-Tass) - The Belarussian and Ukrainian presidents, Alexander Lukashenko and Viktor Yushchenko, are to meet in the second half of February, the Belarussian president's press service told Itar-Tass on Tuesday.
"Today, Lukashenko and Yushchenko held a telephone talk at the initiative of the Ukrainian side, during which they exchange opinions on important international problems and discussed development of Belarussian-Ukrainian cooperation," it said.
The two leaders positively appraised the countries' trade and economic contacts.
"The sides have agreed that it is necessary at present to carry out a serious preparation for the meeting in order to approach the signing of important Belarussian-Ukrainian accords. Respective orders have been given to the foreign ministers of both countries," the press service said.
