The Belarusian Defense Ministry denied reports Monday that a batch of S-300 missile air defense systems from Russia had arrived ahead of its spring due date.
'So far, no systems have been delivered to Belarus,' a ministry source said. 'This is quite an important and serious event which will be announced in advance.'
The two countries signed a contract on S-300 supplies on September 10, 2005.
The S-300 missile air defense system (NATO codename SA-10 Grumble) is one of the most popular Russian brands on the air-defense market. The first foreign contracts were signed in 1994 with China and were followed by a deal with Cyprus.
