Belarus to supply Azerbaijani oil by swap contracts

Belarus will start supplies of Azerbaijani oil by swap contracts with Venezuela from March 2011.

'Azerbaijani oil will be supplied to Belarus beginning from March 2011 under swap contracts with Venezuela. We will supply light oil from Azerbaijan by a pipe, this is our alternative', said deputy chairman of Belneftekhim Bronislav Siviy Tuesday in Minsk at the joint session of the commission on international affairs and relations with the CIS of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly and Commission of the Council of the republic of the National Assembly on Economy, Budget and Finances.

As for whether Belarus benefits from oil purchase in Venezuela, in the light of agreements in oil sector with Russia, Siviy said: 'In fact, it is more profitable to work with Russia but we do not know what happens in relations with Russia in the future'.
