The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic fully shares the preliminary findings and conclusions of the OSCE/ODIHR election observation mission stating that Belarus still has a considerable way to go in meeting its OSCE commitments.
We express our deep concern over the acts of violence during the presidential elections in Belarus that took place on December 19. The Ministry condemns extensive use of force by the Belarusian authorities against protesters. We are also deeply concerned over detention of opposition activists, including the presidential candidates. The Ministry will closely observe further developments in Belarus and calls on Belarusian authorities to exercise maximum restraint.
