Opposition in Minsk heading for Belarus CEC

In Minsk, an opposition procession has broken through the police cordon and is heading towards Independence Square where the Parliament, Council of Ministers and Central Electoral Commission of Belarus are located. The protesters have thus paralyzed movement not only on the main street of the city - Independence Avenue - but on adjacent streets as well.

The opposition is dissatisfied with preliminary results of the presidential elections, according to which the incumbent president, Alexander Lukashenko, is gaining about 80 percent of the vote.
