President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite met with schoolchildren of Lithuanian schools of Pelesa and Rimdziunai, Belarus.

"You are every dear to us. You speak, learn and sing in Lithuanian. But you have to try to learn and work harder because you are our children, Lithuanian ambassadors," President Dalia Grybauskaite said addressing the visiting Lithuanian schoolchildren of Belarus.

The President underlined it was very important that Lithuanian young people living outside Lithuania sought actively for knowledge and education.

"Only through better performance will you achieve successful results. Don't be afraid of taking risks or having dreams," the President said.

The President listened to the schoolchildren singing Lithuanian songs and reciting Lithuanian poetry.

"I wish you to always feel happiness and pride of being Lithuanians," the President wished to the Lithuanian schoolchildren from Belarus.

Christmas trips of Lithuanian children from Belarus to Vilnius have been organised by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Minsk for three years now. The trip gives the opportunity to children to see Lithuania's capital city of Vilnius, learn Lithuanian Christmas traditions, cherish their nationality and Lithuanian identity while in Belarus.
