Iranian Minister, Belarusian Envoy Confer on Agricultural Cooperation

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Agriculture Minister Sadeq Khalilian and Belarusian Ambassador to Iran Victor Rybak met in Tehran on Monday to discuss ways to bolster cooperation between the two countries in agricultural fields.

During the meeting, the Iranian minister reminded the two sides' ample capacities in agricultural fields, and urged further interactions between the two countries' private sectors.

Khalilian also expressed Tehran's willingness to expand cooperation with Minsk in conducting research on seeds and saplings as well as holding training courses.

Rybak, for his part, announced that the value of Iran's exports to the East European state reached $7.2 million during the last 10 months, with agricultural products amounting to one-third of the figure.

He also said that Iran's exports to his country included conserves, fruits, figs, dates, nuts and pistachios.

The meeting came days after Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Tehran and Minsk were laying the foundations for broader ties and intended to promote relations to the highest possible level.

Ahmadinejad, who made the remarks in a meeting with Belarusian Industry Minister Anatoliy Rusetskiy in Tehran, also called for the expansion of bilateral ties to a maximum level, urging that obstacles to the further consolidation of Tehran-Minsk relations needed to be removed immediately.
