Belarus Parliament slept recognition of South Ossetia, Abkhazia

Belarus Parliament slept the recognition of South Ossetia and Abkhazia's independence over spring, Sergey Maskevich, Chairman of the International Affairs and CIS Relations Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Noviye Izvestiya daily reports. According to him, MPs executed extensive work in exploring the last year's request from Abkhazia and South Ossetia to recognize their independence.

Maskevich underlined there is a split in the working group over the issue who visited Abkhazia, South Ossetia and Georgia.

"Today the autumn session closes and the Abkhazian and South Ossetian issues are not on agenda," he said, adding that he stands pat on the matter, but he prefers not to disclose it.
