Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus plan on common economic space

RBC, 25.12.2008, Moscow 17:00:03.The creation of a common economic space for Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus may be launched on January 1, 2010, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said during today's joint meeting of the Security Council and State Council addressing CIS policies. According to the Russian leader, the three countries had sufficient grounds for unifying customs tariffs, as well as forming special regulatory and administrative bodies.

Medvedev underlined that cooperation with the CIS was especially important for Russia, primarily in ensuring the country's friendly and stable relations with its neighbors. He pointed out that the crisis would be over sooner or later, adding that the launch of new projects with neighboring countries had to be ready for the future, the Vesti TV channel reported.
