Shklov newsprint mill reaches 50% of its production capacity

Moscow. Dec 23, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. The Shklov newsprint mill (Belarus) has reached 50% of its production capacity, chief engineer of the company Oleg Misiurov said. According to him, at present the Shklov newsprint mill produces around 60 tonnes of newsprint a day. In H1 2009, the plant should reach the gross output - 40 thousand tonnes a year, Lesprom Network informed according to Belta.

"The plant will produce not only the standard newsprint but light enameled paper as well. It will allow the company to cover the requirements of the national print media and publishing houses and export it," Oleg Misiurov said.

The construction of the Shklov newsprint mill was launched in 2005. It uses the up-to-date technologies which provide the highest energy efficiency. The up-to-date equipment from France, Austria, Lithuania, Germany, Russia and Finland has been installed there. The cost of the plant is Br439.8 billion.

In 2006, a wood-sawing production with the capacity 220 cubic metres of timber was launched at the plant as well. The wood-sawing production facility will produce flooring board, siding board and other sawn wood.

In Q2 2008, the plant started the production of wooden houses. In 2009, the plant intends to produce 250 sets of houses. The construction of the plant is very important for the development of the social area of the town of Shklov: around 500 working places were set up, two 60-apartment houses were built for the workers of the plant.
