Belsat TV to go legal in Belarus?
Belsat TV, a Polish independent satellite television station which broadcasts to Belarus, has started registration procedures in that country.
A document has been sent to the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for review. The TV channel has been on air since December 2007, and is to be registered in Belarus as a unit of the national Polish broadcaster, TVP.
According to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, a final decision is to be made within two months. Registration of the station is very important for the journalists that work for it: legal status would allow journalists to obtain proper accreditation, which is crucial for the running of Belsat TV.
