Live

The show has started and we are watching Dasha, Alina & Karyna performing their JESC 2008 entry Sertse Belarusi.

1. Alexey Krechnet - Joy and freedom

Alexey delivers a strong vocal performance and theatrical staging for the first song. He wears a cowboy hat and is surrounded by dancers in Comedia dell'arte masks and a child dressed in white.

2. Petr Elfimov - Eyes that never lie

Petr tried to follow Dima Bilan being dressed all in white while performing his entry. Eyes that never lie is a overly dramatical pop/rock song that might or might not work on a Eurovision stage.

3. Cola feat. Lidiya Zablotskaya - Gudok

The band mixes pop, rock and ethinc tunes in their mid-tempo song Gudok (Honk). The vocals sound unusual but work quite well this song. If this is the Belarussian choice, they will be more in the style of their first entry in 2004 again.

4. SingeRin - Don't think about it

The fourth performance tonight comes in classic black and red and with mimes in the background (something we haven't seen in the Eurovision Song Contest since 1980). The singer delivers a rather strong vocal performance of this classy pop song.

5. Dakota - Tsyabe zabyvayu

A military theme is used for this very aggressive performance including fireworks. Forgetting you works well on stage, even if the rock song might not be outstanding in its genre.

6. The Champions - Shake it, Europe

The first hip-hop performance tonight. The trio seems to feel at ease on stage and they deliver a confident performance of their catchy song, that would obviously polarise it won the national final. Maybe the lyrics is too obviously created for the contest, which might not work (anymore).

7. Alex Patlis Band - Kto skazal

We are in for a typical Eurovision national final entry. The vocals of the lead singer are strong, but the overall performance could be a bit more charismatic. This is one of the songs that are catchy while you listen to them but not sticke enough to stay in your head.

8. Litesound feat. Dakota - Carry on

Classic outfits were chosen for this song that starts off as a ballad and turns into a rock song. A catchy entry with strong vocals that could do well in this selection. Litesound are of course no strangers to EuroFest having already taken part various times.

9. Domenika - This is my day

Another rock song, this time strongly performed by Domenika. Her glamourous and unusual performance of the genre works well on stage and she seems to feel very confident. This could be one of the five qualifiers tonight.

10. Dyada Vanya - Nasha Belarussia

If this song does not make it to Moscow, it could always be use in a commercial by the Belarussian tourism bureau. Another child is performing on stage. Generally, this is an eye-catching entry that might well make it to the next round.

11. Veter v Golove - Or - or - and

A fairytale rock performance that is generally outstanding but might get lost among the rather high number of experimental entries. The song works on stage but might not convince the voters in Moscow.

12. Anna Blagova & Yuriy Vaschuk - Behind

Black and white and white and black is the theme of this performance that works very well with this dramatic up-tempo song. Both singer present strong vocals and this could be one of the dark horses. The hip-hop interpolations fit in the song but might no appeal to the average Eurovision voters.

13. Gunesh - Fantastic girl

A very progessive ensemble. She is accompanied by four female dancers all dresed in white futuristic outfits and the coordination works perfectly. Gunesh looks at home on stage and her performance is probably one of the most spectacular ones so far. The song is catchy and might well appeal to a wide audience.

14. Victoria Belova - Don't give up from love

Another rock song. The performance is more simple than the previous ones, although it includes a dancer. The vocals work well with the music but generally this entry might be forgotten by the time the voting starts.

15. Venera - Big game

The last entry tonight is performed in silver. Again, the voice is strong and the performance works with the music. If this song will be lost in this very strong line-up?
