Foreign Ministry Condemns Arrests in Belarus

Bratislava, December 11 (TASR-SLOVAKIA) - Slovak Foreign Affairs Ministry condemns Wednesday's arrest of Belarus activists in Minsk, who were handing out the text of Universal Human Rights Declaration to passers-by, Ministry spokesman Jan Skoda told SLOVAKIA on Thursday.

"Precisely on December 10 we commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as well as Human Rights Day," pointed out Skoda while communicating the Ministry's negative stance towards the action.

As he added, the intolerable police intervention against peaceful activists happened simultaneously in several places in Belarus. "Such steps of the Belarus authorities complicate the development of co-operation between the country and the European Union, since they fly in the face of Belarus's international commitments," Skoda concluded.
