Chavez, Lukashenko meet in Caracas

Caracas - Presidents Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and Aleksander Lukashenko of Belarus met Friday in Caracas to look into further possibilities for bilateral cooperation.

Lukaschenko arrived in the Venezuelan capital late Thursday and is set to stay for a two-day visit. Plans include the launch of three joint-ventures, including one for the exploitation of oil.

Chavez met Lukashenko at his office for meeting that lasted more than three hours, the Venezuelan Presidency said.

Earlier Friday, Lukashenko honoured South American independence hero Simon Bolivar, accompanied by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro.

This is Lukashenko's first visit to Venezuela. Chavez had invited him to the South American country when he visited Belarus in 2006.
