Russia to raise Belarus gas price as agreed - Putin

MINSK, Dec 14 (Reuters) - Russia will raise the price for exports of natural gas to Belarus next year in line with an existing agreement, President Vladimir Putin said on Friday after talks with Belarussian leader Alexander Lukashenko.

"Yes, there will be an increase, but as foreseen in earlier contracts," Putin told a news conference.

Putin was clarifying an earlier remark in which he said that gas prices for Belarus would not be raised in 2008. (Reporting by Oleg Shchedrov; Editing by Douglas Busvine)
