Belarus, Iran work out plan on oil sector cooperation

MINSK, December 11 (RIA Novosti) - Belarus and Iran drafted Monday a joint action plan for oil sector cooperation, a spokesman for Belorusneft oil company said.

"During an official visit by a Belarusian delegation to Iran, we prepared a joint plan to cooperate with Iranian oil companies," the spokesman said.

He said the joint development of oil deposits in Iran held the greatest promise.

Belorusneft explores and develops oil deposits, drills oil wells, and produces oil and natural gas. In the first 10 months of 2006, Belarus produced 1.5 million tons of oil (11.02 million barrels).

Earlier Monday, Iran also offered to cooperate with Russian energy giant Gazprom on the joint development of Iranian deposits.
