Belarussian opposition leader continues hunger strike

MINSK. Dec 11 (Interfax) - Former Belarussian presidential candidate Alexander Kozulin continues his hunger strike in the jail where he is serving his term, Interfax was told by the prison administration on Monday.

"Kozulin has not stopped his hunger strike," a spokesman said.

Interfax reported earlier, quoting a prison source, that Kozulin had planned to stop the hunger strike last Saturday, hoping that at least one EU country would come up with the initiative to include a discussion of Belarus in the agenda of the U.N. Security Council.

Kozulin went on a hunger strike on October 20 and, since then, has lost over 30 kilos. Doctors monitoring his condition have expressed concern about his state several times.
