Gazprom to supply gas to Europe even without contract with Belarus in 2007

MOSCOW. Dec 26 (Interfax) - Gazprom (RTS: GAZP) cannot supply gas to Belarus without a contract, Alexander Medvedev, head of Gazprom Export and a deputy Gazprom CEO, said at a Tuesday press conference in Moscow.

However, he said that even if a contract is not signed with Belarus for gas supplies in 2007, Gazprom will supply all the gas for European consumers at the border of Russia and Belarus starting on January 1, 2007.

"The issues of transit and supplies are not linked and won't be linked. Supplies will be made in accordance with contracts," he said.
