Gazprom says clears objections to deal with Belarus

MOSCOW, Dec 26 (Reuters) - Russia's gas monopoly Gazprom (GAZP.MM: Quote, Profile , Research) has removed all objections to a new deal on 2007 supplies, Russian agencies quoted the firm's chief executive Alexei Miller as saying on Tuesday.

The new deal is crucial for Belarus to receive gas in 2007 and for Gazprom to transit gas smoothly via Belarus to customers in Poland and Germany.

Miller said Gazprom has agreed with Belarus' valuation of its pipelines at $5 billion, removing any obstacle to creating a joint venture to manage the links. Setting up the venture is a crucial step for Belarus to secure lower prices.
