Belarus, Iran to intensify energy cooperation

MINSK, December 22 (Itar-Tass) -- Belarus is eyeing a role in the development of Iranian oil fields and the Iranian Oil Minister said on Thursday Teheran was interested in cooperation.

"We are seriously interested in cooperating with you in the energy sphere," Kazem Vaziri-Hamaneh said at a meeting with Belarussian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko. He praised the signing of a memo of intent on cooperation in the oil industry and said the Iranian president himself insisted on the development of such cooperation.

Semashko said Belarus plans to submit "its vision and technical feasibility for the development of an Iranian oil field". "We have several options for the development of the deposit," he said without specifying the field.

Vaziri-Hamaneh will meet Prime Minster Sergey Sidorsky and will visit Belorusneft Oil Company facilities to assess their technological capabilities.
