Russia and Belarus Prepare Union's Budget

Moscow, Dec 15 (Prensa Latina) President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, will head the second meeting of the Supreme Council of the Russian-Belarusian Union Friday in Moscow.

According to a source close to the Kremlin, the meeting is expected to approve the Union budget for 2007, for the first time since this institution was created.

The income section is considering an increase of more than 20 percent for Moscow and Minsk, reaching something more than 108.77 million dollars.

Budget projects propose to finance 25 programs for increased economic potential of the Union, including computation, satellite communication, micro-electronics, agricultural machinery, diesel engine car construction and the chemical industry.

Putin and Lukashenko will review 2006 accomplishments, evaluate the course of the agreements adopted by the Union s structures and plan future projects, as well as approve an action program for 2007, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.
