Belarus invites Russia, Lithuania to monitor elections

Belarus' Central Election Commission has invited observers from Russia and Lithuania to monitor the presidential elections slated on December 19, head of the commission Lidia Yermoshina told reporters Friday.

She said she had sent an invitation to her Russian colleague Vladimir Churov to take part in the monitoring.

For the moment the team of long-term observers headed by the Chairman of the Executive committee Sergey Lebedev is working in the republic.

Next week Belarus expects the observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
