MINSK, November 27 (Itar-Tass) -- Belarus this year will earn 2.2 billion dollars from food export, First Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko told parliament this week.
"Next year food export earnings should reach at least 3 billion dollars," he said.
In the first half of this year Belarusian export of meat and meat products increased in contrast with the first half of 2005 by 3.2 times, and that of milk and dairy products, by more than 3.5 times.
Semashko said that the export of food was becoming a major source of export revenues.
"To a great extent export is growing with the modernization of agricultural production and food and processing industries, as well as of the machine-building sector," he said.
