Belarus president not to meet Russian FM

Belarussian President Alexander Lukashenko will not meet with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Russian media reported Tuesday.

Lavrov's visit could mean the last attempt of Moscow to influence its ally, said the Moscow RBC Daily newspaper.

Lavrov arrived in Minsk for a joint two-day meeting of two countries' foreign ministry councils. The ministers discussed integration processes in the three-party customs union and other bilateral relations.

For his part, Lavrov said that Russian President Dmitry Medvedev instructed him not to meet the Belarussian leader, said the Interfax news agency.
