The Belorussian Central Election Commission said Thursday that 10 candidates, including President Alexander Lukashenko, have been officially registered for the upcoming presidential elections.
The candidates from Nov. 22 to Dec. 3 will take turns to deliver their campaign speeches via live television and radio broadcasts, the commission said.
The candidates also will have TV and radio debates on Dec. 4-5. The elections are slated for Dec. 19.
Lukashenko, who was due to stand in elections for a fourth time,promised earlier that the elections would be conducted in strict accordance with national and international laws.
The first group of observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe was to arrive in Minsk on Friday to watch the presidential elections.
