Azerbaijani to build trade and logistics centre in Minsk

An Azerbaijani trade and logistics centre will be built in the Minsk region, Acting Chairman of the Economy Committee of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Vita Tsivilskaya said.

The project will be carried out in 2010-2012.

The Azerbaijani side has already registered the InterStroiPortalPlus company.

The issue of allocating a 25-35 hectare site in the region of Shchomyslitsa village is being considered.

The project is estimated at $10 million to $12 million.

According to Vita Tsivilskaya, cooperation between the Minsk region and Azerbaijan has been steadily growing.

In February 2009 a delegation of the Minsk oblast headed by Chairman of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee Leonid Krupets paid an official visit to Azerbaijan.

Belarus-Azerbaijan business forum and fair of Belarusian goods were also held.

Azerbaijani businessmen visited the Minsk region on 10-13 September; representatives of Belarusian companies paid a visit to Azerbaijan on 22-25 October.

Following the visits, the sides agreed to create a joint production of mobile houses using containers by the Vileika repair works and Energoservis company.

The Zabudova enterprise will deliver wooden houses for the cottage estate of Nabran (Khachmaz region).

The sides are considering the establishment of a joint venture to produce meat and milk production.

The export of Belarusian goods has considerably increased.

In January 2009 Belarus exported goods and products worth only $0.4 million, in January-March - $2 million, in January-September - $14 million.

Cooperation between the regions of the Minsk oblast and the regions of the Republic of Azerbaijan is carried out within the framework of the agreement on twin-town relations between the Minsk and Khachmaz regions (February 2009), agreement on cooperation in trade and economy, science and technology and culture between the Nesvizh and Ismailly regions (June 2008).
