JAKARTA, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government invited Belarusian students to study in its universities through a scholarship program, a statement from the Foreign Ministry said here on Wednesday.

"The Dharmasiswa Pemri Scholarship program is held in 47 universities throughout Indonesia," said the statement.

It also said that the Belarusian government welcomed the invitation and was hoping that Indonesian students could study in its universities.

"The Gomel State Technical University in Belarus has expressed its intention to cooperate with Indonesian universities in exchange of students, professors and university graduates, as well as employee training in the field of techniques, energy, physics, chemistry and other technology," said the statement.

On Wednesday, Indonesia and Belarus conducted consultations and signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two countries' chamber of industry and trade.

The Belarusian delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Aleinik.

The meeting aims to keep steady trade balance between the two countries and promote cooperation opportunity in sectors of economy, trade, investment, energy, education and social-culture.

The two countries established diplomatic relations on June 18, 1993.
