Belarus, Ukraine and Lithuania to propose projects for Eastern Partnership initiative

On November 22-23, foreign ministers of Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine are meeting in Kiev to discuss cooperation within the framework of the European Union's Eastern Partnership program.

After Lithuanian Foreign Minister Vygaudas Usackas congratulated Ukraine on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Orange Revolution and expressed support for Ukraine's EU membership aspirations, he noted that the country will have to work hard in order to implement economic, social and governance reforms.

"Lithuania is ready to assist Ukraine by communicating its experience," highlighted Usackas.

The minister also highlighted that Belarus, Ukraine and Lithuania are the first countries to propose trilateral projects for the Eastern Partnership initiative.

Usackas called on Ukraine and Belarus to present trilateral projects and investment opportunities in Lithuania on June 2-3, 2010.

Sergey Martynov, Foreign Minister of Belarus, proposed to hold the consequent meeting of foreign ministers of Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine to hold in spring 2010 in Belarus.
