Gaddafi Wraps Up Visit to Belarus

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met with Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi on Monday in Minsk. Lukashenko suggested that Gaddafi support Belarusian businessmen in Libya and promised that Belarus will also support Libyan business. "I would like the result of this visit to be a solution to these practical issues," Lukashenko said. "Our trade turnover clearly does not correspond to out potential. I would like to say that there are no closed subjects for cooperation with Libya."

"As for the ideological basis of the relationship, we have no basic differences on the world order," Lukashenko continued. "We consider it a principle issue that the world should be multipolar and that is the basis for the organization of the world. We have already seen what a unipolar world leads to."

Lukashenko invited Gaddafi to stay longer in Minsk. Gaddafi thanked Lukashenko for the warm reception. "I see a friend in you and thank you for the warm reception and hospitality," Gaddafi said with satisfaction. "I think this visit will be a stimulus for the development of our relations."
