A. Surikov: Belarus and Russia to Start Joint Inspections at Enterprises-Exporters of Products of Animal Origin

Russian and Belarusian officials are going to start joint inspections of enterprises-exporters which produce meat and dairy products, as Aleksander Surikov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia in Belarus said in the interview to the Agency "Interfax-West".

"The parties will take jointly the product samples at enterprises and then check them using one system. To provide the guarantees, both parties will store the samples", as the Agency's interlocutor explained. "Of course it's not a guarantee against violations, but there shall be less disputes in this connection", the Ambassador added.

Commenting the official message of Federal Agency for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision (Rosselkhoznadzor), in which it is said that Belarusian current control system doesn't guarantee safe supply of products of animal origin to Russia, the Ambassador specified "there could be some mistakes in the statements". "As far as product quality assessment approaches are concerned, Russia had no claims. But there are violations in system approaches and non-correspondence to Russian requirements for product quality", the Ambassador pointed out.

According to A. Surikov, the quality of products depends not only on meat cutting technology but also on the sewerage state and water quality. "Russia does have claims to some enterprises. We tried to impose restrictions on supply from 20 enterprise of 35 last inspected, but then we decided to prolong the term till December 1", he specified.

The Russian official also reported that the first Belarusian commission had already started for Russian enterprises which supplied fermented milk products to Vitebsk Region and Minsk.
